Make your plans for the Bolshoi Benefit Show at Wills Park, Alpharetta!  This is a GHJA rated show.  Click here for the prizelist.  Staybridge Suites is offering a discount for participants.  Click here for more information.

The Bolshoi Benefit Horse Show is a long-standing favorite of the Georgia Hunter Jumper Association local  show schedule and for the last several years, has included the complete AAHJA schedule.  Including AAHJA has had two wonderful benefits to the show:  1, it has provided a full roster of quality beginner classes for all, and 2, it has enabled our Athens friends to participate in the show with their full roster of students.

The history of the show goes way back.  In the 1980’s, the show was a two day event sponsoring Hunter classes the first day and Open classes, (western and saddle seat) the second. Over the years, as the hunter population overtook the Alpharetta area, the show switched to the current two day, all hunter format.   Always, the focus of the show has been to raise money for the Bolshoi Colic Research Clinic at the Vet School here in Athens.  Again, the Athens connection has always been there.    Dr. Jimmy Moore runs the research clinic, and the funds we have contributed have gone a long way to providing many of the nuances in current colic treatment.  It is not an exaggeration to say that the work of the clinic, and by extension, the work of the show, has no doubt saved the lives of many of our horses.

The Bolshoi Benefit strives to be a very inviting and very fun horse show for all participants. Those participating seem to recognize the special focus of the show as there is always a great sense of cooperation and community alive throughout the weekend.  This year,  Chairperson Beth Lee, Secretary Cheryl Sims, all of our staff and myself, look forward to seeing as many AAHJA members at the show as possible.  Come along!  It’s a great party for a great cause.

To AAHJA Members, Past and Future -

Some of you may have been thinking about becoming members as you interface with our wonderful trainers, participate in the AAHJA sanctioned shows, support the same causes our CARE funds support, come to our end of year banquet, look at our web site,  "Like" our brand new Facebook, just share our common love of horses or any of many other excellent reasons.

In fact some of you have been members for several years and have just not yet renewed your  membership.

Don't delay any longer. As any association, AAHJA is only as strong as the commitment of its members. One way to help the association and the Board is to renew in a timely fashion so we do not need to  spend a lot of time verifying memberships at each show.

There are some perks associated with membership, such as: lower class rates at the shows, having your show points tabulated and counted for a chance to win one of our fabulous prizes at the years end gala banquet.... You will have paid for your membership in just a few show participations.

So come and join us and procrastinate no longer!

You can renew at any of the upcoming shows with the show office or you can find the form on our website (under Membership or click here) and send your membership check by mail.

As a reminder here are the rates:

  • Juniors $25.00/year (most of you qualify!)
  • Seniors $30.00/year (some of us fit here...)
  • Family: $40.00/year

And the best deal is of course for our horses: $10.00 for a lifetime membership! They deserve it! After all they are the reason we are all reading this!

Do not let any more show points go unaccounted for and join now!

See you at our next shows!

Your AAHJA Board
